MSJC’s Rickianne Rycraft and Duff Brenna founded an online literary journal called  Serving House Journal in Spring 2010.

The journal is an eclectic mix of established and emerging voices in literature.  Its mission is “to play an international role in fostering and preserving the best of what the literary arts are capable of doing: writing that may impel others to become writers themselves; writing that will add to and enhance the dialogue of the arts; writing that reaffirms our belief in the inspiring possibilities of the written word.”

Rycraft, associate Professor of English and Chair of the English Department on the Menifee Valley Campus, serves as ServingHouse’s nonfiction editor. An Associate Faculty member, Brenna is the managing editor and the fiction editor.  Award- winning poet Laura McCullough joined ServingHouse as its poetry editor.

ServingHouse’s first issue is posted and provides useful information about the journal, including the mission statement and biographies for the editors and contributing editors.

The online journal currently publishes two issues per year. Its second is scheduled to be released on October 15.
